083 - Francis and Samuel of Bethnal Green

Samuel 2397 and Elizabeth 2398 Green

Samuel 2397 is the head of one of the oldest trees in London, though we don't know how he got there. Samuel married Elizabeth 2398 Green on 23 Aug 1780 in Bethnal Green. He was a cooper and a yeoman. They obtained a licence 20 Aug 1789 and were married  23 August 1789 - it has Samuel Gotts of the parish of All Hallows the Less 22 years and upwards marrying Elizabeth Green of the parish of Hornchurch Essex, spinster aged nineteen and upwards with the consent of her father John Green. It was also signed by John Green and Samuel. Their children were:

Francis 1033 and Jane 1035 Reynolds

Francis 1033 married Jane Reynolds in 1819 in Hackney. Jane was born in 1797 and died in 1880 aged 82, in Bethnal Green. Their children were all born in Bethnal Green:

 Francis 1038 b 1824 m Sarah 3184 Hall Possible death of Francis in 1862 W Ham, but could be Francis 1033 as well. Francis is shown in the 1851 census as a candlemaker.

 Joseph 1040 b 1828, m Susannah 1044 Martin at St Martin in the Fields, Westminster in 1850.

John William 1037 and Ann 1042 Wright

John William 1037 married Ann Wright  in 1844 at Hackney. Ann was born in 181 in Windsor and died in 1895 in West Ham. They had four children born in various parts of London:

 Francis 2401 b 1850 Newington

 Samuel 2209 b 1852 Newington

John William was noted as a 'keeper of animals' in Newington in the 1851 census.
