William 309 and Matilda Parsons
William 309 Gotts married Matilda 310 Parsons in Aylmerton in 1822. He was already a widower, and from the 1851 census he was born about 1790 in Gresham. His first marriage may have been to Priscilla Underwood in North Repps, but at present this is conjecture. They had seven children in Aylmerton:
Charles 314 b 1823 married Susan 315 Thurston
Sarah Ann 2246 b 1824
Harriett 311 b 1826, m Richard Gray in 1854 (with whom she may have been brought up)
Sarah 2248 b 1827
Mary 312 b 1831
Maria 2247 b 1833
Robert James 313 b 1834
The question is: who was William married to before and who are his parents?
Charles 314 and Susan 315 Thurston of Aylmerton
Charles 314 married Susan 315 Thurston, probably in 1847, and raised their family in Aylmerton:
Mary Elizabeth 316, b 1848
Jonathan 317 b 1850
Martha 703 b 1854, d 1873
Maria 2253, b 1855, d 1878
Charles Robert 704, b 1858
Emma Sarah 2255 b 1862
In 1881, both Emma Sarah and Mary Elizabeth were servants with Sarah Barcham in Long Eaton, Norwich. Emma Sarah later became her companion and lived in Norwich until 1928.
A number of the family emigrated to Australia:
Mary 312 married Henry Stout in 1854 in Sidney, Australia. (Kaye Purnell is her descendant)
Maria 2247 married David Booth in 1856 in Sidney.
They emigrated on the SS Talavera in 1853, before their nephew Charles Robert 704, who went about 1909. The Talavera was a sailing barque owned by JF Gibb, weighed 384 tons and was built in 1853. It was bought by the Blue Anchor line in 1882.
Robert James 313 and Celia Blyth of Aylmerton
Robert James 313 married Celia 2260 Blyth in 1868, and then Susannah 2261 Ivory in 1898. The only child was by Celia:
Louisa 734 b 1869, m William Parsons in 1902.
